Quality & Sourcing – Our Internal Standards

Our Quality Philosophy

At GK OUD, excellence begins at the source.

We work with a carefully selected network of plantations, distillers, and craft producers across Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, and India. Our approach prioritizes traditional methods, clean processes, and responsible sourcing, ensuring that every product meets the expectations of high-end perfumery and Middle Eastern markets.

Internal Protocol

Our Supplier Evaluation Framework

We apply a structured internal protocol to all the suppliers we represent.
This framework covers more than 60 technical points and helps us ensure consistent quality, transparency, and reliability.

1. Company Legitimacy & Compliance

We verify critical information, including:

  • Legal registration

  • Years of experience in agarwood

  • CITES / sustainability efforts

  • Export history to the GCC

  • Ability to comply with custom duties

This ensures we partner only with serious, responsible producers.

2. Plantation & Agarwood Source

Our evaluation covers:

  • Aquilaria species

  • Plantation size & tree numbers

  • Wild vs cultivated sources

  • Inoculation methods (biological, natural, etc.)

  • Harvesting timelines

This gives us full visibility on the origin and maturity of the wood.

3. Wood Production Standards

We assess:

  • Grading methods (resin %, density, aroma profile)

  • Drying methods (shade / sun / oven)

  • Production capacity

  • Supply stability

  • Price structure per grade

This helps maintain consistency and transparency for our buyers.

4. Oud Oil Distillation

We review:

  • Raw material source (own wood / purchased)

  • Distillation technique (hydro, steam, gas, CO₂)

  • Still material (copper / steel)

  • Distillation duration

  • GC-MS or internal testing capabilities

  • Grades produced & monthly capacity

This ensures oils align with high-end perfumery expectations.

5. Export Capability

We ensure suppliers can manage all export requirements:

  • CITES permits

  • Certificate of Origin

  • Phytosanitary documents

  • Packing lists & invoices

  • Familiarity with Saudi/GCC import rules

This minimizes risk and delays for clients.

6. Performance & Burn Tests

We also consider:

  • Smoke color

  • Scent evolution (top/mid/base)

  • Longevity on mabkhara

  • Aromatic profile (soft, sweet, resinous, leathery, etc.)

This gives us a practical understanding of each product.

Our Commitment

Responsible & Transparent Approach

Our philosophy is simple:

  • Work with trusted, skilled producers

  • Encourage natural, clean, and traditional practices

  • Support responsible plantation management

  • Promote transparency throughout the supply chain

This is not a certification — it is our internal approach to ensuring that the products we represent meet the standards expected by the world’s most demanding perfumers and clients.
